DID YOU
KNOW?
Your cleaning products could be making you sick and you may not even know it
Household
Dangers
Of chemicals commonly found in
homes, 150 have been linked to allergies, birth defects, cancer and
psychological abnormalities.
-Consumer Product
Safety Commission
Hazardous chemical concentrations are 2 to 5 times higher inside
our homes than outdoors.
-Environmental
Protection Agency
The household
cleaning agents, personal care products, and solvents that make our lives so
easy are also sources of hundreds of potentially harmful chemicals.
You
can purchase safer, higher-quality products directly from the manufacturer and
show other people the benefits of doing the same.
One person really can make a difference in the lives of many.
Are you
ready to make the switch?
Coronary heart disease is the leading
cause of death in the United States. Cancer is the second leading cause of death
and accounts for one in five deaths in the United States.
Vitamins and
minerals are like spark plugs that help keep your body running smooth and
strong. Today's typical American diet is pre-cooked, processed, packaged and
preserved.
The new
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Guide Pyramid
suggests:
use fats, oils and sweets sparingly
2-3
servings of the Milk, Yogurt and Cheese group daily
2-3 servings of the
Meat, Poultry, Fish, Dry Beans, Eggs and Nuts group daily
2-4 servings of the
Fruit Group daily
3-5 servings of the Vegetable Group daily
6-11 servings
of the Bread, Cereal, Rice and Pasta Group daily
Only a third of
Americans are getting 100% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin E, less
than half are getting enough vitamin B6, more than 37% of men and 43% of women
aren't getting enough vitamin C and on any given day, 46% of Americans don't
consume even one fruit.
Fortunately, you can
compensate for coming up short in essential vitamins and minerals with
high-quality nutritional supplements.
What are free radicals?
Free radicals are unstable oxygen molecules that can harm the cells in your
body and eventually damage the very DNA that helps each cell accurately
reproduce itself. These toxic molecules are constantly attacking your heart,
lungs, blood vessels, organs and tissues.
Where do free radicals come from?
The very elements needed to sustain life-the air we breathe, the water we
drink and bathe in, even the sun. Modern technology with its computers, cellular
phones and microwave ovens exposes us to free radical damage through radiation.
Also, smoking, synthetic chemicals and smog.
Beneficial compounds called
antioxidants - which are made in the body itself and also come from food sources
like fruits and vegetables - can help neutralize free radicals before they cause
damage.
